Hi, I’m alexis.
I’m a 52 year old pisces, wife, mother of 4, daughter of the most high, sister, lifelong friend, and confidant to many. I’ve gone through life’s wins and losses, including death, childbirth, miscarriage, menopause, rheumatoid arthritis, divorce, marriage, the good, bad, and the ugly. I found that pushing through adversity allows room for life’s lessons and growth within.
With a BA in Psychology from Grand Canyon University (Lopes Up) and a Masters in Human Services Counseling from Liberty University (Go Flames), let me guide you on a path to a better YOU, with lots of Lavender and some great life advise where nothing is permanent!
My Approach
I returned to school to finish what I started 11 years ago when my mother passed away from Lupus. I realized the meaning of life and reminded myself that life is too short to be in a job that wasn’t fulfilling my purpose. I started in the field of counseling to gain my MS in clinical mental health counseling where I completed my practicum and internship in a mental health hospital. I gained counseling skills working in the forensic unit and transitioned to the residential treatment programs working with at risk adolescent and teens to working in a group home where many patients came from early childhood trauma. I worked in the area of sexual trauma, addiction, human trafficking, physical and emotional abuse, ADHD, PTSD, MDD, SI, SIB, schizoaffective disorders, to depression and anxiety, just to name a few. All that to say, the exposure was real, the trauma was real, and the impact was real that I needed to step away from acute care and delve into more subtle things of life like mid-life crisis, helping women, men, and any genders get through life. Often times, we have to take the long road to get where we need to be in life.
*Disclaimer: I DO NOT claim to be a therapist or a practitioner. My approach is putting YOU first and listening to your desires to help you achieve your goals in life and not face it alone with someone who is compassionate and believes in self-care.
